Mission Statement

As a member of the Rhode Island State Nurses Association, the RI Nurse Practitioner Council is a coalition of nurse practitioners that serves as a resource for nurse practitioners working in the state. We promote excellence in practice and strive toward sharing knowledge among professional colleagues, sponsoring educational programs and supporting conferences for nurse practitioners. We provide legislative leadership and work for action which formalizes, enhances and protect nurse practitioner professionalism and practice at the state and federal legislative arenas. The council also promotes the public knowledge of the NP role in providing health care to Rhode Islanders. The council hopes to represent the diverse interest of NP's working in varied settings in Rhode Island.
